Is it better to fly or take a cruise to Amsterdam?

It depends what you want to get out of the trip. I assume your question relates to the sightseeing part. The north sea is definately not alaska unless you are into oil drilling platforms and container ships.

Cruise boat will board usually in the center of Amsterdam so it will be easy to do a city trip.

If you are just visiting masterdam for a city trip I would just take the plane, which is faster and leave you more time for sightseeing.
