Ok so me and my friend have booked a holiday to Amsterdam in the Botel which i think is across the water from the city centre. We really want to see the nightlife in Amsterdam as we are both young and want to have a good time. The thing is, I read that we have to get a ferry over and the last one back to the botel is 10PM???????????? I will be soo annoyed with this if it is true. We got told when booking the hotel at CO-OP Travel that it will be a 2 min walk from the centre. If anyone can help me with this please, please tell me. I am quite annoyed with this. P.S. Is there any way we can walk over the water by bridge or anything? Or how long will it take to walk to a path that goes over it?

Your hotel is in Amsterdam North, you need to go on a ferry to get to the center, which is at the other side of the IJ. The ferries leave from the central station.

Here is a ferry map.

I believe you need the red one. It's a 15 minutes ride.

Here is the schedule for your ferry.

As you can see it doesn't go all night. On the map you see a green ferry, that one goes all night.

Here is the schedule.

So if you want to go home later then the last red ferry you need a bike to go to the hotel from where the green ferry stops or you need to take a night bus.

There are night buses that go to Amsterdam north, here is the map.

I think you need the grey one (the 363), it leaves from central station.

Here is the schedule for all the night buses.

In the night bus you have to pay in cash, I don't really know how much it is, 3 euro something I believe. So don't pay with a 50 euro bill because the driver will not like that.

There is a bridge over the water but it's far away from the center and I guess if would take an hour or so the get to the botel (by bike)

The botel used to be in another place, which was a 2 minutes walk from the central station but it had to move due to construction works there or something.

Contact them and find out for sure. According to their website, when the ferry shuts down for the night there is a shuttle that takes over. I can't imagine any hotel in Amsterday insisting it's customers be "in by 10" rofl. They'd have no business.

"There is a free ferry from the Central Station to the Amstel Botel: the NDSM shipyard ferry. This ferry can be found behind the station on the River IJ. The trip takes about 10 minutes. The ferry does not run at night. Instead, there is a free shuttle bus that runs between the Amstel Botel and the Central Station."
