If you are driving then the cheapest route is via the ferry crossings at Dover with either Norfolk Lines or SeaFrance in my experience (albeit from France to the UK and back but should be the same)

It is much cheaper to drive than to go by ferry per mile (km) and so the ferry from Harwich to Hoek van Holland is pretty expensive. Likewise the Channel tunnel is quicker than the ferry but a lot more expensive

Time-wise when it's about 4 hours from the port to Amsterdam if you drive relaxed, but outside of rush hour traffic (rush hour traffic in Belgium and the Netherlands can significantly increase this time).

If you want a detailed route then just use an online planner like Via Michelin http://www.viamichelin.co.uk/viamichelin/gbr/tpl/hme/MaHomePage.htm

If I had to choose, then for the cheapest it would have to be Dover Dunkirk with Norfolk Line. Just checked, and provided you are willing to travel between 10pm and 2am, it can be as little as £12 each way car + 2.

From Dunkirk Ferry Terminal to Amsterdam is < > 215mls. and, apart from the first 4miles or so to the A16, all motorway.

Ferries are every even hour for both journeys and take approx. 2 hours, so if for instance you travel with the 2359hrs.Dover / Dunkirk you will be in Dunkirk at 0300hrs local time. Give yourself an easy 4 hr. drive and you could be in Amsterdam for 7am.. This way you would miss the 'rush hour' traffic black spots of Antwerp and Utrecht.

For the best answers, search on this site https://shorturl.im/axr9N

Time: 05h59 including 04h17 on motorways Distance: 478km (300 miles near enough) including 449km on motorways Costs - Toll costs: 0.00 EUR - Petrol costs: 43.47 EUR - Road tax cost: 11.84 EUR Total costs: 55.31 EUR I would add an extra hour or two onto the time as who knows how long you will have to wait at the Channel Tunnel.
